THE CHOPTANK TRIBUTARY TEAM is a group of concerned citizens, local government representatives, farmers, watermen, sportsmen, and business people who join together to promote wise stewardship of the watershed in which they live and work.

Using a watershed approach that crosses state and local boundaries, the Trib Team helps to:

  • identify sources of pollution
  • guide decisionmaking and policy
  • propose restoration activities
  • support Best Management Practices
  • and increase awareness

MISSION STATEMENT:
The mission of the Maryland Tributary Teams is to build consensus and advocate for policy solutions, to promote stewardship through education, and to coordinate activities and projects necessary to protect and restore the Chesapeake Bay's water quality and assure healthy watersheds with abundant and diverse living resources.

NOTICE:

January 12 Meeting

Thursday, Jan. 12, at 6 p.m. at the Talbot Community Center

Many changes have occurred in the Tributary program and in Maryland’s watershed community over the past several years, so I’d like to use this meeting to explore the future of our Team. We will have a facilitated discussion around these central questions:

  1. What do you think the mission of the Trib Team has been?
  2. What are the major organizations in the Choptank watershed who could be or are performing similar functions?
  3. Do you know of valuable contributions the Team has made in the past?
  4. What are the Team’s strengths? Weaknesses?
  5. Do you see a continued role for the Team?
  6. If the Team’s role should be different than in the past, what new role or roles could the Team play? What organizations or individuals should be involved who aren’t already?

Please RVSP for this meeting, so I can get a sense of how many people will be participating in the discussion. Even if you have not been participating on the Team lately your perspectives and ideas are highly valuable and welcome.
